ReplyDeletewell i think that someone who would pay that much for a sculpture is crazy... i do like the sculpture but it was WAYY too much
ReplyDeleteI don't have much to say about this besides that this only proves that once an artist dies his work becomes very valuable.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the image of this sculpture, I thought: How can this sculpture be the most expensive sculpture? But my mind changed as I read the news article and watch the vedio. First of all, the size of this sculpture amazed me, and it is really well-balanced, even though this figure's legs are really thin, compared to it's body. I see the movement, and interesting negative spaces. I can see that he worked very hard working on this sculpture.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this sculpture, I could not believe that this sculpture was the most expensive sculpture. As I read the articles and watch the vedio, my mind slowly changed. First of all, the size of this sculpture truely amazed me. It is amazingly balanced, even though it's really tall, and it's legs are thiner than it's body. I also see movement and interesting negative spaces. I can tell that Alberto Giacometti had worked really hard while making "The Talking Man."
ReplyDeleteThat's CRAZY! I knew art sold for a lot but I never imagined it would sell for 105 million! I wonder who has that much money and what makes people wonder even more is who was the anonymous buyer. It's sort of mysterious.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this picture, I could not believe this sculpture was the most expensive one. It looked too simple to be the most expensive sculpture to me.
ReplyDeleteAs I read the articles and watched the video, my mind completely changed. It amazed me. First of all, the height of this sculpture is unbelievable. Its legs are thinner than it's body, and that made me wonder: It looks like its legs are going to break in any second, but at the same time, it looks so well-balanced and also stable.
I see the interesting negative spaces, movement. The whole thing is really delicate.
That's quite a sum! I think Giacometti is an interesting artist; his work is different from many artists I have seen. I wonder at the price though- over a million dollars? I would think that the Picasso would have sold for more; but there seem to be less of the Giacomettis. He died so young; there can't be a great amount of pieces by him. As far as his style of art, I must say, I think I prefer the classical style or Impressionism.
ReplyDeletethats a lot of money its amazing how much people will pay for a piece of art i wouldnt of paid that much but i would love to pay to go see it in a museum
ReplyDeleteWhoaa! This is kinda crazy ! Something so beaustiful and very interesting, ans simple, be sold for 92.5 MILLION DOLLARS !!!!! That just amazes me, because it really shows how much people love art.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's really interesting that something that is not of enormous size and not made of very valuable material could sell for so much money. I didn't expect that someone would buy something like that for that much money. I do think it is good that the money is going towards some educational programs because that makes the art stand for something more.
ReplyDeleteThe walking man looks so cool!!! Its like he is walking but he isn't!! He is so long and lanky that it just makes the artwork so amazing to look at!! I want to try to do that one day!! (:
ReplyDeleteI don't completely understand how that was worth so much money. It is s a really neat and well designed piece of work, but i don't understand who would ever pay so much for something that you probably couldn't hang in your bedroom?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinon I dont understand why someone in their right mind would buy it for that much! Its very interesting and it makes you want to look at it from all angles but still I dont think it is worth that much. I also wonder how it is being displayed at the museum?
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with people? I don't understand why it's that important? That's more than a lot of people make in a year. Are they aware that people are starving in the world. Do they know about the earthquake in Haiti? I hope they actually do put it to a good cause...
ReplyDeletethis is ridiculous. i dont know why anyone would ever pay so much for a bronze sculpture of a walking man. It was an interesting sculpture but with 12 million dollars you could buy the bronze and make the sculpture yourself.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so this work has great craftmanship and it is trully a wonder to me how the artist managed to make the proportions so extreme with out it being unstable. The length and width is a big wonder to me. Secondly, the price that someone would pay for a peice of bronze is ridiculous, I know it has great craftmanship, but really think about what a difference in the world you could make with 98 million dollars. You would change lives, sure the sculpture may fascinate many, but would it affect a person long term?
ReplyDeleteMy persective on art isn't as sophisticated as these art buyers so my opinion may be completely ignorant, but i think this is preposterous. I don't like the scupture, it's not visually pleasing to my eyes. As with many things it's the artist's name behind the sculpture which makes it so expensive. It's interesting indeed that some people are so passionate about these art works to drop such bombs of green on them, but asked for my opinion, this anonymous mr. mysterious would do much better for himself and the world if he uses that money for a good cause, or at least something more visually pleasing.
ReplyDeletewow, i thought that $12 mil is a little over kill. The sculpture is a bit frightening in my opinion, no one wants to be that thin! except..well you know. anyways interesting video, crazy amount of mula$$$, thats about it!
ReplyDelete-Vanessa
i agree with everyone else in the fact that that costs wayyy to much money than it should. its a complete and total waste.
ReplyDelete~Bucci
it is amazing that the sculpture is so expensive. i do like the sculpture, it reminds of another sculpture just like it except it's pointing, maybe the same artist made that sculpture too.
ReplyDeleteI guess i'm missing some sort of clue that explains why it is so expensive, because i definitley do not think that is worth anything over maybe 100$. Those people must be out of it if they are willing to pay over 12 million dollars for a piece of work that wouldn't even look good in your living room.
